Citizens of non-EU or non- EEA member states who want to work in Romania should take several procedural steps in order to get a job, Immigration officers announced.

The five steps that a non-EU citizen should take in order to establish residence on Romanian territory are: identify an employer in Romania; the employer gets a work permit for the foreign national; the foreign national applies for a long-stay employment visa, at Romania’s diplomatic missions or consular offices abroad; the foreign national enters Romania based on a long-stay employment visa; the foreign national requests a residence permit from the territorial immigration units in Romania.

Foreign nationals who want to get employment contracts in Romania must meet the following conditions: they should have the necessary qualifications, experience and the required permits; they are medically fit for the respective activity; they have no criminal record incompatible with the position; they fall within the annual quota established by the Romanian Government.
