The labour shortage maintains a high demand for non-EU workers. In the first 6 months of 2026, over 500 companies in Brasov (central Romania) sought to fill nearly 5,200 positions with citizens from countries such as Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Nepal. According to the director of the Brasov County Employment Agency, Liliana Dragomir, the most sought-after sectors are unskilled and semi-skilled labour, services, the hospitality industry, constructions, manufacturing, and transport. Notable roles include unskilled workers in constructions, manufacturing, and goods handling, as well as staff in catering, food and accommodation services, couriers, and transport.

The Agency’s analysis shows that non-EU citizens are recruited in Brasov county primarily to cover personnel shortages in high-activity sectors that face constant difficulties in recruiting and retaining local workers.
