In September, immigration police officers continued their actions to prevent and crack down on illegal migration, both with their own forces and in cooperation with other institutions with responsibilities in the field. Their actions aimed to maintain a climate of order and security on the territory of Romania, according to the General Inspectorate for Immigration.

Law enforcers identified 1,952 foreign nationals in illegal situations in September 2025. Most of these came from Nepal (396 persons), Sri Lanka (258 persons), the Republic of Moldova (231 persons) and Bangladesh (154 persons).

Return decisions have been issued for 512 people, 219 foreign nationals have been taken into public custody and 289 have been removed under escort from the Romanian territory. Other measures provided for by the legislation in force have been taken against the other identified foreign nationals.
