Results achieved by the immigration police in Ialomița

The police immigration officers in Ialomița County (southern Romania) have presented their activity report for the first eight months of the year 2026. On August 31, the Ialomița County Immigration Office had 3,267 individuals on record, up from 2,952 during the same period of 2025. Some 2,638 of these hold temporary stay rights, accounting for roughly 81% of the total, as compared to 2,370 last year.

The foreign nationals who applied for and obtained temporary or permanent residence rights in Romania primarily come from Nepal, Sri Lanka, Morocco, the People’s Republic of China, Türkiye, Syria, the Republic of Moldova, Bangladesh, the Philippines, and Egypt.

Meanwhile, the number of registered EU and European Economic Area citizens rose to 333 from 310 in 2025, with the largest group coming from Italy (136 individuals). Additionally, 166 individuals hold long-term permanent residence rights, a slight increase from 160 last year.

During the review period, the office received 523 applications for temporary stay extensions, up from 345 recorded last year. A total of 486 residence permits were issued, compared to 390 last year. Between January 1 and August 31, 2026, no visas or local border traffic permits were cancelled or revoked, and no temporary residence rights were terminated.

Regarding approvals of employment and secondment in Romania, the office processed 703 applications: 619 were approved, 48 were rejected, and 36 are still pending. Furthermore, five foreign nationals were registered under Emergency Ordinance No. 32/2026, allowing foreign nationals in irregular situations to request the regularization of their status.

Enforcement operations identified 11 foreign nationals violating immigration laws, five of whom qualified for amnesty, down from 19 in 2025. Consequently, only four return decisions were issued, as compared to 17 in 2025.
