The National Trade Union Bloc (BNS), one of the largest trade union blocs in Romania) has invited digital platform workers operating in Romania to join the European Workers’ Union, a structure dedicated to those operating through applications, such as Uber, Bolt, Glovo, and Wolt.

According to the aforementioned source, those joining this union will benefit from representation, support, and protection before both platforms and the authorities, as well as a common voice in the fight for fair and dignified working conditions.

Furthermore, the trade union organization expresses indignation at the recent incident in Arad, western Romania, where a delivery man, a citizen of Sri Lanka, was physically and verbally assaulted in the courtyard of a medical facility. Such behaviours are unacceptable and go against the fundamental values of a society that respects work, dignity, and human rights.

BNS strongly disapproves of any form of aggression against workers, whether Romanian or foreign, and draws attention to the fact that work must be respected, regardless of the field or contractual status.

For all workers in the digital economy (delivery personnel, drivers, and platform collaborators), BNS offers free legal assistance and support in situations of abuse, harassment, or violence, the aforementioned source adds.
