Immigration police officers in Prahova, in southern Romania, presented their report for the first eight months of 2026. Of the 2,790 individuals on record, 2,558 are third-country nationals, outside the EU, with the primary countries of origin being Nepal, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Turkey, and the Republic of Moldova. Additionally, 213 citizens of the European Union, the European Economic Area, and Switzerland were registered.

The main reasons for establishing residence in Romania are employment, family reunification, and studies. A total of 36 applications for admission for the purpose of family reunification were received, along with 1,257 applications for work or detachment authorizations regarding the employment and posting of foreign nationals. Following the approval of residence rights, 2,349 temporary residence permits and 49 long-term residence permits were issued to third-country nationals.

As part of efforts to combat illegal stay and employment, immigration police officers in Prahova conducted 134 operations, preventive checks and verifications, both independently and in cooperation with other relevant institutions. Inspections covered 73 employer entities, and six foreign nationals were found to no longer meet legal requirements for residence. Some 38 foreign nationals were identified as being in illegal situations. For those failing to meet legal requirements, 29 return decisions were issued, and eight measures were imposed banning entry into the territories of the European Union, the European Economic Area member states, and Switzerland.
