In August, Romanian immigration police officers issued or reissued over 16,700 residence permits at national level. The majority of these documents were granted for employment, studies, or long-term residence, while approximately one quarter of the total were issued to Ukrainian nationals who had received temporary protection in Romania.
Of the 16,764 permits issued or reissued, 12,876 were granted to foreign nationals who came to Romania to work, study, or settle on long-term. At the same time, the General Inspectorate for Immigration continued to manage the flow of individuals displaced by the conflict in Ukraine. In this regard, officers granted 3,888 residence permits to beneficiaries of temporary protection.
The figures show that an increasing number of foreign nationals are coming to work and study in Romania. Romania also continues to assist Ukrainian citizens fleeing the war.
