Sibiu Immigration Police Releases Activity Report

The immigration police officers in Sibiu county (central Romania) have released their performance indicators for the first 7 months of 2026. There are currently 9,653 foreign nationals in their records, including 5,171 non-EU citizens and 4,482 from EU and European Economic Area member states.
A total of 2,979 applications to extend temporary residence rights were received. Of these, 6 applications were rejected without a return decision, two with a return decision, and 219 are currently in various stages of processing, while the remainder have been resolved. Out of the total, 2,365 applications were for employment purposes, compared to 1,660 applications processed during the same period last year. Most requests came from citizens of Nepal (933), Sri Lanka (420), India (374), Türkiye (325), Bangladesh (115), the Republic of Moldova (48), Pakistan (43), and Vietnam (22).
Additionally, 881 work permit applications were received, up from 615 in the same period of 2025. Out of these, 721 applications were approved, including 306 for changes of employer or position, 75 applications were rejected, and 85 are currently pending.
The immigration police officers in Sibiu have also taken legal action against foreign nationals who failed to comply with residency conditions in Romania. Consequently, 21 return decisions were issued (compared to 11 in the same period of 2025). Furthermore, four entry bans into Romania were enforced against foreign nationals subject to return decisions.
