Romania digitalizes the hiring process for foreign workers

As of August 7, 2026, employers and recruitment agencies can manage online, in one place, all essential procedures for foreign workers entering the Romanian labour market. This means less bureaucracy, shorter processing times and the possibility to track each application in real time.
Workinromania.gov.ro, the Romanian Government’s official platform for hiring foreign workers, is the first integrated digital system that allows employers, recruitment agencies, and relevant authorities to manage, through a unified electronic workflow, the main procedures for third-country nationals entering the Romanian labour market. Developed under Government Emergency Ordinance no. 32/2026, this new platform represents one of the most significant digitalization and de-bureaucratization initiatives in labour migration management.
Fully digital procedures
WorkinRomania.gov.ro meets the demands of employers seeking labour force while enabling the authorities to manage employment procedures for third-country nationals with greater efficiency, transparency, and security.
In the first operational stage, the platform operates the following procedures entirely online: employer registration/vetting; licensing and renewals for agencies recruiting foreign nationals; electronic document submission; release of official notifications and updates; real-time application tracking; and the direct delivery of official documents to user accounts.
The platform also supports authorized user delegation for employers and recruitment agencies, ensuring full operational traceability and the seamless integration of qualified electronic signatures.
In the next stages, the platform will expand to include digital workflows for single permits, long-stay work visas, and residency extensions for work purposes, alongside other legally mandated digital services.

WorkinRomania.gov.ro reduces application processing times and eliminates the need to repeatedly send the same documents to different institutions.
By interconnecting the IT systems of the competent authorities, the platform enables automatic checks and the secure exchange of information required to process applications.

Inter-institutional cooperation
The platform enables cooperation between the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the General Inspectorate for Immigration, the National Employment Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Tax Administration Agency, the Ministry of Education and Research, through the National Centre for Recognition and Equivalence of Diplomas. The platform is also interconnected with the records of the National Trade Register Office, the General Register of Employees REGES-ONLINE and other IT systems required for the verifications provided for by law.

At the same time, users benefit from a support chat service, available in both text and voice formats, which will provide assistance and guidance while using these digital services, in Romanian and other international languages.
