The General Inspectorate for Immigration issued a total of 49,676 work permits to foreign nationals in the first 4 months of 2026, most of them to permanent workers, against the backdrop of maintaining a sustained pace of requests from employers. Out of this total, 42,705 permits fell under the official 2026 quota, while the remainder was issued for changing employers or job positions.

Most foreign nationals for whom permits were issued under the quota were permanent workers, a category for which 42,371 permits were issued. The remaining quota permits were distributed across the following categories: 171 for seasonal workers, 97 for highly qualified workers, 36 for posted workers, 31 shared among ICT workers (intra-company transferees), cross-border workers, and interns.

To support employers and the business environment, the institution remains committed to an efficient and transparent workflow, by digitizing services and streamlining work permit issuance procedures, in accordance with the legislation in force.
