Romania will implement strict regulations for recruitment agencies and the employment of foreign nationals will be aligned with the real needs of the economy, says the Minister of Economy, Digitalization, Entrepreneurship and Tourism, Irineu Darău. We will set strict rules for recruitment agencies, to eliminate intermediaries who take advantage of people or circumvent the law. This way, workers will be protected through clear transparency requirements, ensuring everyone knows their destination, salary and working conditions, from the very beginning. At the same time, the employment of foreign nationals will be correlated with the market needs, and, notably, we retain in Romania foreign nationals who have studied here, allowing them to  start working without unnecessary steps or red tape, the minister wrote on Facebook.

Minister Darău confirmed the approval of a draft Emergency Ordinance, developed by the Ministry of Labor jointly with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which simplifies and organizes the entire system, allowing the state to monitor exactly who enters the country, where they work, and under what conditions. I have been following this issue since my first term as a senator, because the problems in this system have been well-known for years, the minister added.

To streamline these efforts and manage all procedures, the government is introducing the WorkinRomania.gov.ro platform, providing employers with a faster and more transparent process, said Darău. The economy minister claims this project is a necessary shift towards a fair, controlled system where everyone follows the same rules. This is the foundation of a functional economy. Irineu Darău believes the process through which foreign workers arrive and work in Romania is currently complicated and difficult to follow. While Romania needs workforce, Darău argues, it cannot rely on an opaque system, vulnerable to abuse. “The government will change this,” he concluded.
