Some 37,000 work permits in Q1

Specifically, the General Inspectorate for Immigration issued 36,925 work permits for foreigners in the first quarter of the year, the majority of which were for permanent workers. This comes amid a sustained pace of requests from employers. Of these, 31,913 were issued under the 2026 quota, while the remainder represents permits issued for changes of employer or position.

Specifically, the General Inspectorate for Immigration issued 36,925 work permits for foreigners in the first quarter of the year, the majority of which were for permanent workers. This comes amid a sustained pace of requests from employers. Of these, 31,913 were issued under the 2026 quota, while the remainder represents permits issued for changes of employer or position.

The largest category of foreigners receiving permits under the quota consisted of permanent workers, with 31,682 permits issued. The remaining quota permits from the quota were distributed as follows: 122 for seasonal workers, 61 for highly qualified workers, 25 for posted workers and 23 for ICT workers (intra-corporate transferees), cross-border workers and trainees.
