In January 2026, the General Inspectorate for Immigration issued 11,110 work permits for foreign nationals, most of them for permanent workers, against the backdrop of a constantly high volume of requests from employers. 9,141 of these permits were issued as part of the quota established for 2026, whereas the rest represent permits issued for changing employers.

Most foreign nationals for whom permits have been issued as part of the annual quota have been included in the category of permanent workers (9,093 permits). The other permits have been granted to the following categories of workers: 7 permits for posted workers; 16 permits for highly qualified workers; 20 permits for seasonal workers; 5 permits for ICT workers – people transferred within the same company.

In the effort to support employers and the business environment, the General Inspectorate for Immigration maintains a work process oriented towards efficiency and transparency, by digitizing services and simplifying the stages of issuing work permits, in line with the legislation in force, according to the aforementioned source.
